Circle of Life
Taken in the late winter/early spring of 2005 with a Canon A75 at a boardwalk in the town of Ste-Marthe-sur-le-lac, Québec, CANADA. The white expanse of snow visible beyond the trees is the frozen snow-covered Lake of Two Mountains. Although I could see the arc of the trees when I took the shot and that is what I was aiming to capture, it was an extremely sunny day and I did not anticipate that the circle would be completed with the reflection…

Robin Brown
Magic Mushrooms Joanne!! bet you thought I wouldn’t notice. The circle of life; we often reflect on that subject. We draw our own conclusions, the way ice see it we’re here until we complete our circle. Then like an old record on a turntable, we start all over again. The life cycle of a tree for me is like our own existance. The tree is our world our mother nature. We are the leaves. We have our season & that cycle continues. Excellent winter scene with much to ponder. XX
Joanne Bradley replied
Thanks Robin, didn’t really think I would slip that magical statement by you but you must understand that I am a Baby Boomer! :-) Appreciate your observation on this one!
Robin Brown
Your welcome Joanne hoped you might enjoy my wee comment. Tied in nicely with your sentiments of the circle of life. Enjoy your weekend xx

F. Kevin Wyn...
Great shot, and have you ever thought of going back to the same spot and photographing this image in the different seasons? At first glance it seems the circle would remain regardless of the seasons and each season would bring something unique to the circle – in the circle of the seasons.
Joanne Bradley replied
Yes, thank you Kevin I plan to take more shots in that area. Unfortunately a year ago I broke my ankle but I am intending to return this year as often as possible, but the water does recede in the summertime.
Paul Scarsella

Joanne Bradley replied
This one is still my personal favourite, despite having taken it three years ago. All the elements were in my favour that day. Thanks Paul!

not only is the composition and lighting great in this shot, but it really does represent the move from winter to spring, with the ice from the left of the picture, to the arc representing the doorway to spring.
Joanne Bradley replied
Doorway to spring, what a beautiful way of looking at it, thanks JM!
Douglas Hill
This one caught my eye. At a glance it appears to be looking back at me. I like the way the shadows on slush provide balance and interest to the composition.
