Circle of Life
Taken in the late winter/early spring of 2005 with a Canon A75 at a boardwalk in the town of Ste-Marthe-sur-le-lac, Québec. This town is located next door to the one I live, on the north shore, opposite the island of Montreal. The horizon in the background is slightly off and unfortunately I do not have editing software to correct this at this time. However I will hope to do so in the future. Regardless, I think the shot has value for the focus on the naturally occuring circle. Although I could see the arc of the trees when I took the shot and that is what I was aiming to capture, it was an extremely sunny day and I did not anticipate that the circle would be completed with the reflection…

Yeah. When I took the photo I could see the arc in the trees but it was a really sunny day and I really didn’t pick up on the reflection completing the circle. Thanks for your comment! :-)

Robin Brown, 3 months ago
Magic Mushrooms Joanne!! bet you thought I wouldn’t notice. The circle of life; we often reflect on that subject. We draw our own conclusions, the way ice see it we’re here until we complete our circle. Then like an old record on a turntable, we start all over again. The life cycle of a tree for me is like our own existance. The tree is our world our mother nature. We are the leaves. We have our season & that cycle continues. Excellent winter scene with much to ponder. XX
Joanne Bradley in reply to Robin Brown’s comment, 3 months ago
Thanks Robin, didn’t really think I would slip that magical statement by you but you must understand that I am a Baby Boomer! :-) Appreciate your observation on this one!

Your welcome Joanne hoped you might enjoy my wee comment. Tied in nicely with your sentiments of the circle of life. Enjoy your weekend xx

F. Kevin Wyn..., 3 months ago
Great shot, and have you ever thought of going back to the same spot and photographing this image in the different seasons? At first glance it seems the circle would remain regardless of the seasons and each season would bring something unique to the circle – in the circle of the seasons.
Joanne Bradley in reply to F. Kevin Wynkoop’s comment, 3 months ago
Yes, thank you Kevin I plan to take more shots in that area. Unfortunately a year ago I broke my ankle but I am intending to return this year as often as possible, but the water does recede in the summertime.

not only is the composition and lighting great in this shot, but it really does represent the move from winter to spring, with the ice from the left of the picture, to the arc representing the doorway to spring.
Joanne Bradley in reply to JMDunworth’s comment, about 1 month ago
Doorway to spring, what a beautiful way of looking at it, thanks JM!
