Time Waits For No One

Time Waits For No One

Bench in the early morning fog taken just outside a senior’s residence in Deux-Montagnes, Quebec on Friday October 24/08. This bench faces the Lake of Two Mountains and under normal circumstances would afford a great view of the lake.

I am really honoured that Alyssa (adgray) upon viewing this image wrote a lovely poem that is a perfect match to the emotion I wanted to convey with this work.
Here it is:

WAITING OUT TIME
“There’s always someone sitting here
every day for the last sixty years
They shuffle up and rest their bones
and wait a while before going home

They take their turn to enjoy their repose
sometimes sharing sometimes alone
They might overlap with the newer ones
vacating their place as their time comes

Who were these dwellers of this bench
why is it’s usage so entrenched
They come to wait ‘til their time is done
ironic though as time waits for no one”

I remember seeing the intense fog over the St Lawrence—couldn’t see the other side. You can get some thick stuff there! This is a lovely capture.

a beautiful scene, lonely eerie, saddened
it spoke to me of this tale
of many tales – I feel many a contented soul left their shell there over the years
many never made it back the next day, all of them finding solace in the peace and grace of that bench and it’s view.
Thank you for taking it at a time when the mist and dew would be clensing it for the new day and the new dweller.
I love the muted colours, the touch of red in the path & green in the grass.
    Beautiful! ♥
    Chookas! ♥

Just like the driftwood of a dream
Left of the seashore of sleep
Just like the words that wouldn’t rhyme
Lost in the desert of time
Time waits for no one at all
    No, not even you
    ..Moody Blues…

That’s the first thing I thought of when I saw your lovely photo Joanne…I am a Moody Blues fanatic and I know all the words to their songs…this picture is very evocative of their song called Driftwood…

  • Joanne Bradley replied

Oh I love the Moody Blues as well! I wish I had found their lyrics orginally but actually the Stones had a song called by this title and that title came to mind.. Not that I am a huge Stones fan….

These waiting seats are always so evocative, and this one watches the fog but is separate from it by virtue of its greater clarity.
