    Lovely shot, Joanne – and lovely quote not even taken from somebody else ;-) I think ethereal is probably the right word, when you have the dead petals alongside the living – though I’m not familiar with coneflowers. Do the petals stay alive for long, or is it the cone part that is the real flower?

    The whole flower is dried Shallay and it is a beautiful purple when alive in the late summer. Another name for them is echinacea and they have medicinal properties.

    Yes it certainly is, but something I could envision you painting with a very dark rick background and much more intricate light on the petals…
