Good Fences Make Good Neighbors

A macro shot taken of a wild fern frond growing from the neighbor’s side of the fence into my yard. Taken Friday June 13/08. I thought the old proverb was appropriate in these circumstances.

Top ten placement in the Caught in Fences challengr for The Woman Photographer group. April 2009

This is a really unique shot…the contrast of the silvery tones of the wood with the intense green of the fern is stunning…also there is the contrast of the light featheriness of the fronds and the solidity of the wood grain, and a little of a reflection of the sky peeking through…lovely capture…

Yes, it’s happened to me as well in other spots but this one fern on the back fence just stood out. It’s fun when that happens because we double our garden! Thanks Dawn!

Joanne, I love this shot! I can’t believe you put it up since there is a similar shot that I’ve been meaning to take, of a small tree branch that has grown through the crack in the neighbor’s fence, I haven’t taken it yet because I don’t like the color of the fence (redwood paint) and not near as nice texture and beautiful grain as your shot…Yours is beautiful!
