Things don’t change. You change your way of looking, that’s all ~ Carlos Castaneda

I believe that photography can change our way of looking.

That’s certainly how it’s been for me: learning to see:

  • patterns and shapes emerging from the lines of the land
  • worlds emerging from still water reflections or the simplest of mud puddles
  • the colours and wild defiant beauty of the tiniest of flowers, hiding in moorlands and hedgerows…

…yet there for the seeing if we learn to slow down a little, listen, pay attention, and see with the eyes of the heart.

The photos I’ve shared here are a reflection of what I have found by changing the way I look, and also I hope an invitation to others to shift perspective, to look more softly, to let yourself be caught by a spark o’ nature’s fire.

The photos are all from Scotland, and I hope they capture the simple majesty of so many of our Scottish landscapes.

You can find out more about my approach at my photo website Nature’s Fire, and how it informs my writing at Telling Poems and Unsticking Words.
