Famine field
On the shore of Clew Bay on the west coast of Ireland, a field still shows the scars of potato ridges abandoned during the great famine of 1845-46.

I can just imagine the people working the land here and stopping every now and again to look up. I love it when an image is accompanied with an historical description, brings the scene to life. Excellent image, well done

Some of my ancestors left out of this area to settle in Tennessee. I have gone back to this area several times and it is haunting.
