Artist's Description

Untouched colour/color photograph by J. McCombie.
We have never seen such intense magenta-red hues from a Lupine, and we predict that Gallery Red will be a huge hit in your sunny garden. Packed with up to a dozen tall flowerspikes, this perennial is a hummingbird magnet!
The pea-shaped blooms crowd tightly along these huge wands, simply radiating their brilliant hues in the late spring to early summer garden. Gallery Red fares best in cool-summer climates from east to west. It needs rich soil and loves moisture, so keep it well watered and you won’t believe how it takes off!
Gallery Red is a dwarf, clump-forming herbaceous perennial with palmate, mid-green leaves and tall, upright terminal racemes of dark red flowers in summer. It reaches 18 to 24 inches high and 12 to 16 inches wide. Despite its compact size, it is not a good choice for containers, for it thrives by growing a very long, deep taproot. It will establish quickly in the garden and make itself right at home!
Developed from a species of Lupine native to the Pacific Northwest P. polyphyllus), Gallery Red offers the robust performance and freedom from pests and disease you would expect in a native perennial. Make it the star of your sunny to lightly shaded border this season and watch the hummingbirds and butterflies signal their approval! Zones 4-8.
