The Oak and I, we share a secret...
This is an awkward piece for me to have written. I don’t think it’s really all that good, but I like it anyway.
I used to run from the little girl’s laughter
as she swung from the bough of the old Oak tree
the one which I admired so much
to endure the laughter
and I’d run and never stop
to look back to see or try to remember her laughter
chasing.
As it became louder, she swung higher
higher! she would command and
I fought not to give her
a moment of my Self because
they all laughed and they never ceased
the demands of their laughter
until now.
Now she lays aside of me and
only laughs in her sleep
because now
I know who she really is
because now
I am the Oak
from which she swings.

YES! It’s very good. Layers of past and present. I love it!
