the tobacconist
Aachen Germany. OM-3. 21mm. Ilford 3200 film. 1/3/2001
this was a very difficult shot as it was dusk and i was without a tripod. a flash would have bounced off the glass. super high speed film was my only option. the grain is natural for this speed film. I wanted DOF to get the inside of the shop as well as the man in the window. not the best technically, but one of my favorites.
the tobacconist belongs to the following groups:
Around The World, European Everyday Life (add the place!), Gorgeous Germany (3 per day), Nostalgic Art and Photography, SHOPFRONTS and à EUROPA! Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

“not the best technically” – have to disagree :) it’s a wonderful image. these days, people are too obsessed with getting the ‘perfect’ image. if you ask me, half the time ‘perfect’ = ‘sterile’. fantastic point of view :)

agypsyk
Maybe in your eyes not the best technical work, but sometimes it’s more important to capture the character and you have certainly done this
Maximus
Love this, as a pipe smoker you just can’t find shops like this any more unfortuneately. :)
Nuh Sarche

Technicality can be the barrier between a shot and a great shot, it is the flaws that make it great.
