The last shot by a dying camera, falling down a mountain
LOLI hope you weren’t hurt!!!!!!!!LIke the effect.
No but the camera was totalled. I had to photoshop to get an image as it was so dark and I had to crop to exclude my butt. I know many think photoshop is a cheap shot but while I am learning it is all I have and I too love the colours that are possible.
I love the clarity of the colours in your images, pericularly your daylight churches. Is it in the skill with which you take the shot or is it in the light touch with which you edit?
Hi there JKP – I don’t usually edit my photos. Most of them are as taken. When I do edit, I am so inept that it looks pretty obvious!!! LOL. The St Andrews Church was just a perfect day for taking photos, great light, I could take my time and frame it up. I do tend to take 20 shots of the same inanimate thing, at least, and pick out the best. Where it’s a touch animate, like the steam trains, I took 80 shots (then had to download because I don’t have a spare card – someone stole it), then went back again and took another 80.
Although I’m not a professional photographer and never had formal training, I have been taking pix for newspapers and corporate journals for over 20 years so I suppose there is some skill there. But I do tend to do things with my camera than purists are disdainful of (well, I know of at least one that hates my stuff).
Hey, I reckon there are plenty of artists out there who disagree that photoshop is a cheap shot. I guess it depends on perspective, but it’s no different to me than using any number of artistic tools. I guess there are always judgemental photo purists. I hope you don’t let these people put you off!!!!!
Thank You for the insight and information. I must admit I edit to try and make up for the lack of skill with which the shots are taken. I do admire your skill and perhaps it is ingrained so that you do not think the process but just do it. I tend to just snap what I see without even using the viewfinder, I will excercise a little more consideration in future after your example.
Who are these purists and why should we care? I’m just gonna do what I like and I hope you do to. It is obviously working for you.
