Invented by Lester Pelton in 1870 the Pelton Wheel is one of the most efficient water turbines in the world. The wheel is composed of specially-shaped buckets or “Paddles” that capture moving water (with the unique ability to utilize most of the kinetic energy of the flow) to power turbines and produce electricity.
