To You, the Light

A poem for the woman who lights my way.

Upon rising from the ashes of his slumber
Shivering away a mornings chill
Lithe legs valiantly attempt a lumber
Over a beleaguered and coarse hill

Forever sighs upon the alpine mantle
Eyes that struggle to comprehend
Dusky, whispering hues that dangle
Tears, laughter, this anachronistic heart to mend

Century bloom of innocent turning
Rich fields of clouds that bolster
Dreams that dream my constant yearning
Simple beauty, soft and pure

Song of girl wakes the world
Be kind, boy pleads with God and sky
As rare as a rainbow pearl
Shooting star smiles and waves goodbye

A journey spoken, feet to earth
His thoughts run faster than morning light
A love sown to soul from birth
Love, he calls, I come, and takes flight.
