You have taken an old church-looking building, and with a genuine technique, given it a life again. I love old buildings/abandoned rural homes. Perhaps it is the energy I feel pulsating through my physical body. So beautiful!

    Lost America
    By
    Bradley S. Hartman

We have developed a need for speed,
Having to get from point A to point B,
Without a care of what’s in between,
Not even wondering what went unseen.

Lost is the thrill to let our imagination wander,
As we take away the town up yonder,
Never knowing the people left to plunder,
As another small town goes under.

What are we gaining from our impatience?
Road rage? Loss of family time? Innocence?
Or Just the loss of a proud heritage,
To have a few minutes shaved away by an interstate.

But then where’s the thrill of waiting for that next hill?
When we can fly and miss America, what a deal,
The great American novels come on CD’s to hear,
So who needs to read, let’s be real.

    With America’s products mass produced,
Everything the same, no brain matter abused,
    Our choices are already made,
In ninety minutes clips on DVD.

So why should people and places survive technologies erasure?
Our pride was born in small towns like Pleasureville,
So all we’ve lost is us, no big deal.

You have a talent here that I’m sure I’ll see a lot of in the years to come. Very good eye and subject matter.

  • Jing3011 replied

Wow! Love the writing! Talk about talent! Powerful message!

    Thanks Bradley.
