    berndt2

Very dynamic shot – excellent timing (I love that the left jumper has gone so high he’s out of frame, and I think the two shadows cast really add to the whole since they melt so well into the darkness on either side of the garage(s) and the ground)

  • Stacey Hatton

    Stacey Hatton

How did you get the image so sharp with a long exposure? Amazing shot.

  • Ian James

    Ian James

Stacey thanks for your comment. The long exposure was used so that the two people jumping could be shot seperately with a flash gun. So while I was jumping my brother on the left fired the flash gun and then he jumped seperately and I fired the flash gun at him all in the space of about a 3 minute exposure to allow for the flash gun to recharge.

I should think that this has already gone somewhere. The framing is excellent; likewise the theatrical lighting. Not that there’s anything wrong with Photoshop, but I do like seeing things done the “old-fashioned” way.

    Well done!

  • Ian James replied

Thanks ElRobbo. I have lots of ideas which would fit in with this style. I think of all my images this is one of my favourites. All I need now is sometime to materialise my ideas.

never say never (or if only)
you never know who could be on here looking for new talent and ideas.
good luck with everything, i definately have to get a digital SLR soon.
really wanna get out there and get snapping.

  • Ian James replied

    Your right Glenn.

You should get out there and get shooting. You don’t have to shoot digital the majority of my images like this one are shot on film with a Contax G2. I have only recently got a DSLR but just don’t have the time to use it.

  • Haley Higgins

    Haley Higgins

so clever! how long was the exposure?
the accuracy of this exposure is unbelievable.

    film photography is so exciting!!!

  • Ian James replied

Haley, Thanks for your comment. The exposure was about 3 minutes using two seperate flash gun shots to expose me and my brother seperately. I do love the crispness of film especially from the Contax G2. I just can afford top match the quality with digital which is so frustrating.
