Beech Canopy by Jim Legge

Beech Canopy by

The top branches & soaring canopy of a humongous 150 feet high bifurcating 200 year-old beech tree in Wave Hill Riverdale, Bronx, NY. This old beech tree is so large I couldn’t get far enough away to frame her properly with my 35 mm Nikon FE SLR and give a sense of how huge she is. I resolved this challenge by going underneath the massive branches and shooting upwards through her sheltering canopy. The time is late Spring but the light filtered through the leaves has a bronze tint making it seem like Fall. This tree is truly magical with bark like elephant’s skin, I highly recommend you go visit. Taken on my daughter Ajida Morgan’s birthday, May 2, 2004.
