this old house

An HDR photo of the sun setting through the window of this old house found in rural Saskatchewan. I have driven by this old house on several occasions but have never stopped to photograph it. I couldn’t have timed it better…the sun could be seen setting through the window of the house…captivating!

Wonderful photo. But, I have to ask…how did you get a photo of my aunt’s old house? At least it looks just like it and her house was just outside of Rhein, Sask. All my family are from in and around Rhein. Cheers, Carol

  • Heath Dreger replied

I wish I could say I found this house by Rhein…but there is a lack of trees in this photo. I do farm close to Rhein. Crossings was shot West of Rhein…closer to Gorlitz.

It seems quite ghostly. It’s beautiful and sad at the same time. You’re right the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. I love the angle of the house as well, it makes it look as if it’s leaning to capture the warmth of the sun. FANTASTIC SHOT!!

I love old anbandooned houses. The setting and lighting make it ominous. I love the contrasts between the snow and warmth of the setting sun. :)
