    Fake eyes indeed… don’t get out of line, or you’ll be sorry, hapless observer! What a fine image … the colors of the moths themselves backed by that remarkable bark are magnificent. Great job.

  • It’s a sort of defensive display to suddenly show their eyespots that are normally hidden under the forewings.Maybe it scares off hungry birds?Or annoying photographers!Haha.
