Mt Mary

Mt Mary – South Australia

Please take the time to view LARGE

Originally named Krichauff, settled in 1894, the name was changed, as many town names were, during the 1st World War – to Mt Mary.
22kms from the once busy river port of Morgan, Mt Mary at its peak had 200 residents, working the charcoal pits, cutting timber for steam boats and farming wool. Housing subdivisions and roads surveyed, street names selected, but it was to come to nothing
The last train departed in 1969 and now the permanent residents consist of the publican, Swannie, his wife, Annie and Jack, their red heeler dog.

  • JimFilmer replied

thx Mary Ann… out in these parts the low lying saltbush and wide open skies are interrupted now and again by a settler’s dream … most which amounted to nothing

Are those clouds for real???? They’re amazing.

  • JimFilmer replied

They certainly are Yuri – quite a typical Australian sky – once away from the cities

  • Yuri Lev

    Yuri Lev

If this is a typical Australian sky then the land must be magical. I guess this is the Outback, right? The sage in the desert plays against those clouds. The shapes are similar.
