Artist Statement
I can reach the soul of viewers when they gaze upon my paintings. And what do I do with this connection? I use it as an opportunity to share what’s in my heart. I feel the rich emotions and use colors as a carrier to send them to the viewer. I firmly believe that the vibrations of color and music literally interact with a person’s feelings and thoughts…the essence of who they are.
Since I am a composer and musician, I treat colors as the tones of our musical scale. I mix and match, playing with the colors and tones until the painting is filled with the harmony of color and tonality.
As for my subject matter, I paint what I love, places I’ve been, and of feelings that I have. Who I am speaks through the paintings. I feel alive when my passion sings in loving colors.
My wish is for the colors in my paintings to soothe the viewer, build hope, or rekindle a moment of reflection. Even if I have expressed sorrow or despair, I believe that when people feel their passion, even dark ones, that they loosen these heavy feelings from their being, enabling them to be released. When I make these connections with viewers and share my passions with them, my life gains value.
