Namibia is one of Africa’s hidden treasures. Home to one of the oldest and driest deserts, the dunes of the namib desert rise over 1000 feet in height. The sand permeates everything and Mother Nature is ruthless against all who try to inhabit the desert. This is a photo of the Sossusvlei sand dunes at sunrise, from a hot air balloon. It looked like a beautiful painting from above with the constant changing of the light and the dunes seemed to go on forever. Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon 70-200 L lens.

My favourite artist, Vincent Van Gogh once said “the way to know life is to love many things” and I hope those words are reflected in my photography.

Thanks for visiting and I hope some of my work resonates with you or inspires you as I am by other photographers’ amazing work here. Please feel free to explore and leave any comments.

Fantastic Jill, you must have been pinching yourself to make sure it was all real. You certainly did get some magnificent pics on your trip.

  • Many thanks Garth, I was in heaven:) Quite a surreal experience floating over the dunes at sunrise in silence and so beautiful from above ~ cheers
