Wollemi National Park, Mountain Lagoon, NSW, Australia
I ventured up to Mountain Lagoon in the Blue Mountains of NSW today to head into the exquisite Wollemi National Park to check out the sights..
The national park is the 2nd largest national park in NSW and is home to the famous Wollemi Pine that has existed since prehistoric times. The Wollemi National Park is located about 129km northwest of Sydney..
The blue tinge to the mountains in the distance comes from the gases given off by the eucalyptus trees and is what gives the mountain ranges their name.
This particular shot is an HDR comprised of 7 shots taken from the top of a cliff looking west over the mountain ranges towards an oncoming storm.

Glorious! I didn’t understand a word about 7 shots, but whatever you did it worked!
Stunning! It reminds me of the eastern highlands of Zimbabwe looking over to Mozambique – presumably a little safer though!

Great result there Jeremy with those extra hdr shots. Well exposed sky and excellent viewpoint.
Jeremy Harrington in reply to Tambala’s comment, 4 months ago
Thanks very much Tambala, the thing with 7 shots is that it is an HDR (high dynamic range) image, which means you take a series of photographs of the same scene at different exposures and merge them into one single image, this gives more detail and more shades of lighting to the image..
Tambala, 4 months ago
Thanks for the explanation! If and when the grey weather lifts, I will try this out!

HDR you say 7 shots total I assume using a tripod ??
How do you set the exposer ??
Magee, 4 months ago
A wonderful result Jeremy. Well done!
Jeremy Harrington in reply to odarkeone’s comment, 4 months ago
Thanks mate.. Yeh I used a tripod and after autofocusing i switch to manual focus to prevent wandering, then to set the exposure, because i dont have auto exposure bracketing, i go to manual mode and change the shutter speed by 3 clicks for each photo.. so for example, take the base photo, then adjust the shutter speed up by 3 clicks, take the next photo, go up 3 clicks, take another shot, and so on until i get the 3 shots with a quicker shutter speed, and 3 with a slower shutter speed..
