From my Front Door in Frederick St by

Drawn during the last days of living in Ashfield, before moving to Maroubra. I love the ocean where I am now, but I do miss all the trees. Looking back over my work: thinking of taking part in an exhibition of TAP Gallery artists at the Palm House in Sydney’s Botanic Gardens next month.

POSTSCRIPT: This drawing was framed up and exhibited along with about 20x other drawings on cartridge paper from various sketch books @ The Palm House in Sept ’08

So I’m now in my 60’s [how did that happen?!] and I feel I’ve finally hit my full stride- thought there’s still a stretch ahead! Born and lived all my life in Sydney, and loving it. Graduated from the National Art School (Randwick TAFE and East Sydney campus) in 1974 with a Diploma in Interior Design, worked for 3 years at Taronga Zoo as their Staff Artist, then took an apprenticeship with the stained glass master Stephen Moore. In 1982 I left his studio to take up private practice.

lovely artwork, so very well done, beautiful imagery. hugsxxx

  • thank you hilary, you’re always so very complimentary to my work; I do appreciate it. I get such a lot of pleasure from drawing trees and streetscapes- it’s demanding sometimes, and can be tiring staying the distance till you’ve recorded everything that needs to go into the picture, but always rewarding
