Study Window, Greenwich by Jeffrey Hamilton

Greeting Cards & Postcards

Available to buy on…

Installed into a private residence in an Art Deco apartment block. Specific paramaters to the commission were a limitation on colour and the use of obscured glasses to cut out the neighbouring rooftop. Really enjoyed the challenge and especially loved the interaction of the highly patterned glasses with the steel security grill outside the window.

So I’m now in my 60’s [how did that happen?!] and I feel I’ve finally hit my full stride- thought there’s still a stretch ahead! Born and lived all my life in Sydney, and loving it. Graduated from the National Art School (Randwick TAFE and East Sydney campus) in 1974 with a Diploma in Interior Design, worked for 3 years at Taronga Zoo as their Staff Artist, then took an apprenticeship with the stained glass master Stephen Moore. In 1982 I left his studio to take up private practice.

There’s a block of flats only metres away. and i love the distortion that happens with the steel security bars. something else that I had no choice but to work with.

Interesting, the detail is great, though glass as a medium for me seems a bit difficult.

hmmm, it is! But interestingly enough it is the constraints of the medium which are its strengths. at least once you learn to work with that. Welcome to my watchlist! Appreciate that compliment.

oh wow, I dabbled in stained glass about 7 years ago for a little bit. You’ve reignited my interest in the medium. great work.
