Circus Chaos

Just completed this charcoal cartoon for a stained glass piece last night, and I’m pretty excited about! It’s in response to a classical guitar piece by MaryJane Leahy, a friend of mine who has invited 5x artists to comment visually on her cmpositions for an exhibitin called SamJjAna, opening @ Global Gallery in Darlinghurst Wed Oct 15th 2008. MJ will be launching her CD of the same name at the exhibition.

It will incorporate an array of textured glasses, old bit sof painted glass, found object, metal and even a piece of timber ply.

PostScript: decided against the ply

    Can’t wait to see this in the flesh, so to speak, when you have given it color and life. A lot of energy present in the comp and I’m eager to see how my imagination matches your vision and creation. Looks like some lovely pressed and blown glass roundels incorporated as well for highlights and ‘popping’ eye candy. will look for the completed work, soon, I hope ;-}

    “where I was a Flower of the mountain yes when I put the rose in my hair like the Andalusian girls used or shall I wear a red yes and how he kissed me under the Moorish wall and I thought well as well him as another and then I asked him with my eyes to ask again yes and then he asked me would I yes to say yes my mountain flower and first I put my arms around him yes and drew him down to me so he could feel my breasts all perfume yes and his heart was going like mad and yes I said yes I will Yes.” from ‘Ulysses’ by James Joyce

    We who are passionate about glass… and art… can relate to this quote… and smile…

    (could not resist, it’s not everyday one gets to work this into a conversation, now, is it?)

    Brilliant. This makes so much more sense to me now than when I read it when I was 17.
