Fire and Light
stained glass wall work (ie. it has a white backing board, thus works with reflected light rather than transmitted light)- made in 2007 for the North Shore Craft Group’s 30th anniversary exhibition (I used to be a member). They had a special grouping called “All That Glitters” so I got out all the bits of silvered glass I could find!
Measures 128cm x 128cm, which is pretty big for a single panel; had to build a special benchtop b4 I could construct the piece :-)
Fire and Light belongs to the following groups:
Abstract Art and STAINED GLASS ART Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints and Mounted Prints

Very nice, warm work… love the iridescent and silvered glass co-mingled. Most people don’t appreciate how difficult it can be to work a piece with reflected or incandescent light instead of natural lighting and you pulled it off beautifully!

Thanks for that,Doug. You’re right, it can be pretty demanding stuff to work with, it’s so strong in character in its own right. nice compliment, ta.

Very original work! It must be nice having your work displayed forever!

Great photo and excellent art work. The light really does make it sparkle.
Excellent!

Cheers Steph and Mouse. “Forever” is kindof a long time tho. I do enjoy the longevity aspect of my commissioned work.. and the continuation of a long tradition, and ancient craft. But this particular piece was created for an exhibition, and is now in storage in my workshop. It will go on display again sometime soon (I meant to submit it to the BLake Prize for Relligious art but missed the deadline- doh!)

Gorgeous

excellent welding on this too
Jeffrey Hamilton
ta… you can see that much detail? I should mention tho that it’s soldering, not welding: I use a 120watt soldering iron, 60/40 soft solder. minor technical detail :-)
