superville: used the kit 18-55 lens for this one – I think it was at 18mm, then cropped the bottom off, as I was getting too much unfocused wood.

a great shot transformed into a quite fantastic one by your choice of perspective – the old pier, grainy and rusty, and the ‘new’, minimalist looking sky – the same kind of thing going on here as in your ‘Docklands’ – old / new , contrast.

Superb depth,bags of texture and depth, gorgeous colours, great,great angle to shoot from. The light,seat and fence at the end finishes things off superbly….Outstanding photo.

Great angle for the view that works really well here. You can see it’s still a pier without the usual trademark signs that you would get from a higher angle.

That purple hue holding over the sky is delightful. Really draws you in well from the thumbnail and the detail on the posts on the left hand side have been exposed gorgeously in that low level light.

The lone bench and light provide the main view within the shot and work very well dead centre in the shot. Finally the glow of light’s on the horizon immediately make you think of the hustle and bustle of city life is continuing elsewhere whilst you enjoy the solitude and tranquility of your surroundings.

Great perspective and colours. A stunning image. I particularly like the graduation of colour in the sky.
