I don’t know the name of this very large female beetle. I hope someone will tell me!

Discovered the name:
Broad-necked Root Borer (Prionus laticollis)

This photo was taken only moments before the first image in The Series below.
This beetle lives in a hardwood forest in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, USA in Macon County near the small town of Franklin.

  • Ringo Beetle has a nice ring to it! LOL!

    Actually, I spent way too many HOURS to discover it is called Broad Necked Root Borer (Prionus laticollis). It is a huge bug and can run really fast. Also discovered it can pinch humans! Glad I didn’t pick one up. Not that I would even think of that! HA!
