Artist's Description

Jack-o-lantern (Omphalotus olearius) mushroom
Photo inspired by Carla Wick and taken in a clearing of a deep, dark forest in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, USA in Macon County near the small town of Franklin. After sitting in the dark for over ten minutes, waiting for my eyes to fully adjust to total darkness, I was actually able to see the faint, dim, green glow on the underside of this fascinating fungi.
