Jack-o-lantern (Omphalotus olearius) mushroom gills still holding water droplets from morning fog and quickly growing at the edge of a clearing in a Southern Appalachian Forest. It is a big showy mushroom that keeps on growing and is a delight for the eye. This shroom, if consumed, will cause a terrible upset of the digestive system. ’Nuff said?
Photo taken in the ancient mountains of North Carolina, USA in Macon County near the small town of Franklin where there is great biodiversity of plants, animals and fungi.
