Artist's Description

Boxelder Bug (Boisea Trivittata) Nymph hides away in opening between the buds of the Rhododendron (Rhododendron Maximum). The insect is only a nymph, going through a gradual metamorphosis and is still red at this stage of development.
Visiting this luxurious private place with almost white walls trimmed in pink edges must be an insect’s prime vacation destination. He only visits. He does not live here. Soon he will be off to dine at his favorite tree, a Box Elder, or a Maple or an Ash.
Photo taken in the hardwood forest of the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, USA in Macon County near the small town of Franklin.
