Sweets With Flowers (pun intended)
Sitting by the blooming flowers waiting for attention, Sweets, the angelic raccoon, is hoping for what she always hopes for, a handout. I’m sure she thought of digging in the flowers but she did not. She’s a young, and totally innocent raccoon.
Sweets is a wild raccoon that lives in the hardwood forest that surrounds my home, a cabin in the woods in the mountains of North Carolina, USA.

The blue glass ball (on a metal rod) helps to deflect curious paws who like to dig in the dirt. It helps but is not a cure.

It is hard to remember these are wild animals in light of how friendly they are and how often you are able to take incredible photographs of them.

  • Over the passed few years, I have wondered why raccoon were not domesticated along with cats and dogs way back when eons ago, and I think I might have it figured out. They make unpleasant sounds when they speak and they think it is good etiquette to push and shove each other. And then there is that thing they do with garbage if they can.

What a delightful capture Jean. Love the name you gave her and I love the contrast between her on the matching grayish deck against all those beautiful flowers. Aren’t they just wonderful to watch. Lovely detail on Sweets. Fantastic and an instant favorite for me. Congrats on your well deserved feature. Kathy :)

  • Thank you, Kathy. I’m thrilled to get the feature and you lovely comment! After I presented the raccoon photo called Sweet Face, I just had to call this raccoon by the same name. She really is a sweet one.
