When I told some friends about seeing this bike alongside my quiet road parked in the tall Summer grasses, one of them said, “Are you going to pinch it ? I won’t tell.”
“You are so funny”, I said. … I didn’t touch it … but I was tempted to go for a quick ride. The road would have been a lovely place to ride, to enjoy nature with so many wildflowers in bloom and, of course, the wind on my face.
Someone else said, “Some little boy will be looking for this bike soon. I wonder if he remembers where he left it.”
After seeing the bike for several days in a row, still standing in the same place, it finally disappeared. I looked for it as I drove by and discovered it was gone. Won’t ever know for sure, but I suppose that the unknown rider remembered after all … if someone else didn’t pinch it.
