Witch's Cupcake Shroom by Jean Gregory Evans

Deep in the forest where a wicked witch hopes to eat small children, a very special cupcake fresh from her oven is presented on a bed of moss. The aroma of sweets lingers in the air. Can you smell it?

Oh, do be careful when your eyes linger upon the magical icing. Don’t yield to the tantalizing temptation to touch and smear. Whatever you do, you MUST NOT lick your fingers clean!

Oh, go on, I am just teasing!

It’s a Mushroom.

Deep in the forest, a very special mushroom shaped like a cute cupcake is presented, I mean, is growing on a bed of moss. Mother Nature’s work, I presume. Obviously. Not a witch at all. … Right?

Right??

If you know the species of this mushroom, please tell me!

Just perfect Jean! The name and story work so well with this harmless little puffball. I actually love to munch these after frying up in an egg batter with light flour and parmesean. YUMMMY!
