speak softly …
Raccoon relaxing. Summer siesta.
Seeing this sleepy raccoon was a real treat for me. After several hot, humid, rainy days, this raccoon came out during daylight hours to take a short nap upon a flat rock at the edge of my back yard and catch the strong rays of sunshine. It is a bit unusual to see a raccoon sleeping on the ground like this, although I have seen them in trees quite frequently.
This photo was taken in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, USA where raccoons live in the woods that surround my home and often stop by for a visit, but don’t usually sleep right out in the open like this.
