Cloudless Sulphur On Butterfly Weed by

The Cloudless Sulphur (Phoebis sennae) butterfly visits the Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa L.).
I got a little sunburn on the hot day that I took this photo. With not even a hat on my head, it was not my intention to even stop there with the sun beating down but the yellow caught my eye and I couldn’t resist. I had so much fun watching this butterfly that I totally forgot that time was passing.
Photo taken in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, USA in Macon County near the small town of Franklin.

    I thought it was beautiful!

  • I took a whole lot of photos of this butterfly and this one was by far the best. Suddenly and only for a tiny moment, the wings caught the sunlight to create the shadows of the wing veins. The eyes were or seemed to looking into the camera. I believe that was the day that I was so ill prepared to be outdoors but had so much fun watching the butterflies that I forgot the passing of time and got a sunburn.
