Long Live The Wild Turkey!Wild Turkeys were non-existent in the years of my childhood. It is still a thrill for me to see one in the wild.
A native of the mountains of North Carolina, USA, this bird almost totally vanished from the land. With a restoration project that began in 1953 by The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission , they have been re-established.. The wild turkey population has been restored.

Wild Turkey makes a hasty exit as photographer whips out camera.
Photo taken in Macon County near Franklin, NC, USA.
