Three Raccoons stop by for a visit in my yard on a hot day near Franklin which is in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, USA.
Usually raccoons don’t come out until dark. In summer they sometimes appear in the mid-afternoon to take a break from the kits left behind in the nest. They eat and drink, take a dip in the birdbaths and then take a nap in a tree. Sometimes in hot weather, they cool off by resting on moss or in the birdbath. They really appreciate containers of water during the dry hot days of drought. It is a long walk down to the streams.
They know me so they do not run away if I am careful not to startle them by making sudden movements or loud noise. I sat quietly with my camera that afternoon as I was happily expecting their visit. It was a record hot day. I sat with them a few feet away and really enjoyed it. It was like we were hanging out together.
Needless to say, they let me take their picture. This is one of the 183 photos that I took that afternoon.

Hi Jean! Well, welcome to RB! Along with the Three Musketeers here, it’s a perfect place to show your paintings! And of course, to be able to sell prints of them all as well.

Well I only just realized it when someone told Cal on one of her pages – but in order for someone to know you’ve replied to their comment, you have to hit the ‘Reply’ link, not the new comment one. (In spite of all the frustrations there at the moment, this site is a whooooole lot less intuitive than Pan!)

    Welcome again!

  • Kamalyn, thank you so much for your lovely welcome. I’m so glad to be here! Yes, I had to bring my little Triplets along. I’m excited to see what happens next! Thank you for the tip… now I see ‘reply’ so I copy and paste.
