When I first look all is darkness under slowly growing moss, piles of yesterday’s leaves, fallen branches and shade from massive trees overhead. Every direction is green. I step silently along earth and stone and shadows. My eyes rest where a stem reaches to the singing sky and a strong sun pokes its nose past pine needges that edge the day with lace. The light becomes white and then dims in hazy blue hills that envelope air, earth and stars in dreams.

This is a lovely image of a small piece of a NW forest, John. I also like your description; it is much the way I feel, Living here in the N.Cascade Mountains of W.Washington. When I was married, my family spent many, many lovely times driving through Issaquah on the way to Mt.Rainier Nat.Park where we could spend the day Hiking. Heading home, we looked forward to having a sumptuous piece of wild blackberry pie in a tiny cafe near Issaquah.
