The attic was in need of a repair. The roof had leaked on the corner where a pile of boxes had been stored since he was in college. When he pulled at the edge of the cardboard it ripped and the whole thing fell apart. He smiled at the old rock and roll posters that fell onto the dusty wood floor. The edges of old photos of friends had turned yellow with age. He unwrapped a piece of a cotton sheet that he had painted with a peace sign to attend a march to protest the Vietnam war. The colors of an old tie-dyed T-shirt had bled onto the fabric. He pulled it out and set it down on a chair before stuffing everything else back into another box. He changed his mind about repairing the leak today. Tomorrow it would still be there. For now he just felt like a nap. Why not? It was Sunday. A good day to rest. And forget.
