The cloud moved from the top of the hill to the depths of dark water that flowed in deep lavender pools along the base of the tree roots. I held out my hand in the only intimate gesture I was capable of for the moment and brushed the side of branches full of pulsating blooms amid velvet leaves. One eye glimpsed another and reflected back the stars that played along the edge of the whites of both eyes and glared back in sparkles that were hidden to others. The soft tinkle of a tune from a hidden piano drifted beside golden shafts of light that quickly dissolved into blue daydreams. Then I thought again and it was all gone. Until the next time.
