Is the reality what I photograph, what I see, what I paint from the photo, the memory or what someone else sees as they pass by? I remeber the shapes, the blue sky and the street. But I can’t recall what the building was. Was it old or new? I remember the blue sky and that it reminded me of a mission. Yet I know it wasn’t. It could have been simply a parking structure.
Downtown Los Angeles has such a hodge podge of old and new, renovated and run down, luxory and welfare hotels. Sometimes if I walk along the streets they all blend together and I feel like I’m on a movie set. Which is usually the case. That’s the reality. It’s all a big movie.
