The view from the station platform was blurred by stately trees and regal rows of Victorian style lamp posts. A figure clutched at a corner of the building and imagined being at Disneyland. Yet that was as far as fantasy was allowed. Reality beckoned from the caboose of the train. And somehow as long as one stares at a departing train and wishes for its return, the more distant the sound of the click clack of the wheels becomes as if the repetitive sound were ripping a part of your heart out and pulling it along on the tracks behind like the tail of a kite.
This sketch was created in India ink with oil pastels and acrylic paints added, then microwaved on high and then soaked in water to put out the fire.
