Gulp. The HxO gushes in awkward gallons of emotion and memory. I hold my head above water just long enough to see the beach grass glisten in the summer sunlight and catch myself wondering if grains of sand are really stars fallen from your sky to mine. I decide to drown, but only after remembering that if I hold my breath I can’t laugh and the sacrifice seems too much.

acrylics on paper. 22″×14″

John Fish is a Los Angeles artist who paints abstracts, landscapes and portraits with expressive painterly strokes and heavily textured surfaces. I explore the way space flows to entwine objects that have no boundaries.
