Sunscreen

Sunscreen

The hole in the sky bled with bright lights and exploded with gold coins. Only I didn’t want them. It was too easy. I stood overlooking the edge of the cliff. Thick red syrup flowed like lava and voluptuous limbs swayed in unison to a song of pleasure. I didn’t fall for it one bit. I kicked a stone over the cliff and walked away. I put sunscreen on my nose. “That will show ‘em,” I said to myself. For nobody else was there. They had burned. I walked to a water fountain and filled my mouth with cool water. I took a deep breath. I would pretend to be cool. Ignore the universe and be what ever I want to be. All by myself. And with the help of a little sunscreen.
