Surprise
Not that I hadn’t thought it. Many times it had crossed my mind. Seeing you across the room. The look in your eye. The laughter at just the right moment. Then I forgot all about it. Went on my way, about the day, passing time and letting it pass me. walking, talking, eating and sleeping.
I paint in the mornings whenever I can. The strange land of mental striving, and not striving, reaching out and letting go, feeling physical movement and feeling the waves of emotional energy flowing like mercury from head to heart to hand to splash into sight and sensibility.
Bleeding and healing and wondering and planning and making everything perfect and then slopping stripes of color on top, not being sure if I’m covering something up or expanding on an idea.
Unexpectedly your voice appears from beneath the canvas and paint, like and theme song to a movie not yet written and it is as I suspected, expected and how nice to know for once I wasn’t dreaming. What a surprise.
