You know, I don’t mean to sound dumb here but I have always heard you can roast these? I tried it last winter and they didn’t taste right to me. They were not what I thought a nut should taste like. Is there a specific way to do that? You don’t have to answer but I was curious. I really like how you have captured it.
Hi Donna, they are possibly an aquired taste , you roast them in the brown shell on a bbq or an oven until they go dark brown / black about 20 mins, then peel of the shell ,make sure that you peel of the furry skin that clings to the actual cooked nut as this tastes quite bitter. They should have quite a sweet tast and unlike most nuts are quite soft with a texture a bit similar to roast potato.hope this helpsJez xxx :~)
