…had a nightmare you could feel with your whole body?
See, I’ve been having a bit of trouble with the lock on my door and in the middle of the night I dreamt I was awake. Actually, I dreamt I awoke suddenly, because I heard the door’s hinges. I lay stiff with fear and couldn’t see through the dark, straining my eyes to adjust to it. I couldn’t even hear breathing, but I felt the covers move slightly, as though someone’s hand was searching through the black to find a body and then it found me. A quick hand under the sheets and onto my bare skin and I almost threw up in panic. I jolted awake with such force that I almost choked on my hair thrown into my face.
And I heard a tip tap, tip tap and it was so dark I couldn’t see. Gingerly I got up and covered my goose bumpy flesh with the largest piece of fabric I could get hold of.
And then I turned on that bloody light, closed the window, watched tv for an hour until my heart beat recovered and in the morning called a locksmith.

yep… I once dreamt that a pyscho cut the power off to my house, he went into my son’s room and murdered him and then killed my two dogs, just as he was about to come open the door to my bedroom I woke up, terrified I immediately reached for the light switch… And what do you know? There was a freaking power cut! Forcing myself to get out of bed to see if my son was alive or dead was the longest walk of my life! There’s been others… Most of them lucid, but not very well controlled. Love the way your descriptive writing creates imagery.

WHOA – heavy Jess!! Wish you had called the locksmith the day before! Last big night time jolt I had was about a year ago. Won’t say what it was about but never went back to sleep that night; it seemed far too real. Glad it was only a dream Jess, or a premonition you payed attention to.

I have some horrific nightmares, but one that I have had since I was a little girl always gets me going… My husband has learnt to deal with it now and my eldest son tries to hold me through it.
I dream of being with my whole family as a little girl, we go to our new home and are soon surround by flames, the heat I can feel and sounds are scary. We run from house to house and slowly the family leaves one by one till I am on my own and cornered.
According to my husband I scream and yell and move my legs like I am running I start sweating. It is a very rare thing now but it does still happen. I actually put up a bit of writing I found on RB that I wrote when I was almost 12 and it has the same description of the dream in it.

I do that all the time… hear a tiny noise as I dream of being awake in bed, and lose my $hit completely!
One dream, which I haven’t had since I was a kid… was waking up not able to move, talk or breathe. 4-5 minutes in that dream was sheer torture – I figure my parents must have dropped me on the soft bit of my head a few too many times

Christ Jess I got goose pimples on that one. Will you come protect me with your big strong muscles? I’m a skeered!
I know the relief of realizing it’s only a dream, whew! Accept in my dream I always seem to end up smashing heads to bits. Oh well off to take my meds.

Jessica, tell me about it… I have those all the time, and especially when I`m lying on my back. One time I jumped so high I thought I`d just grab onto the chandelier and spend the rest of the night where I could see what was coming!
But in your case, I think whatever creature it was could have been looking for me and got lost. Good call with the locksmith, but I`ve since told her how to find me so you shouldn`t get bothered any more.
Hugs & sweet dreams, BB

ah well… in this i cannot declare an understanding or commonality. i have dreamed so rarely in the last decade, perhaps 3 or four times. dunno why.

Liebchen, if that ever happens again – call me, and I’ll talk to you until the sun comes up and it’s time to call the locksmith. Promise. x x x

Yep, this sort of thing has happend to me. You feel solid with fear, and the feeling takes a couple of days to subside. Some nights, sleep and dark is not a friend.

Yep, I dreamt once there was a little twig hanging just above my head. It was small, with moss growing on it. In my mind, if I moved this twig would fall and crush my head. I lay there on my back, awake, but not awake, fearing to move because I thought I would die. My heart was beating so fast, with fear, I thought it would burst.
