Southlands - Palm
Southlands, Warwick, Bermuda. July 2007.
Southlands is one of very few areas of untouched land in Bermuda (and definitely the largest)... The government has been trying to convince us that it is in the island’s best interests to have a huge (ugly) resort built on the property. This would ruin this untouched land AND demolish a large area of our beautiful South Shore. They pretty much went ahead with plans before most of Bermuda even knew what was going on and have been trying to fool us into thinking it is a good idea. The general feeling amongst Bermudians is that the development will NOT help Bermudians as a whole, but instead will bring in money for an elite few.
In other words, most Bermudians will see no positive outcome of this resort but WILL see their beautiful island horribly and irreversibly scarred.
