Do I like butter? by jesika

2010 was my best ever year for these beautiful Common Blue butterflies, counting 13 on one trip to Walmgate Stray, York. 2011 I saw NONE. Imagine my delight after a dreadfully wet spring and early summer to see this immaculate imago flitting around. And I know at least one other person who will share my joy…won’t you, Bonnie?

Jesika! Jesika! Jesika! I actually gasped when I saw this—your best ever capture of this lovely butterfly! it is absolutely perfect. Clarity-100%! Colors-100% Bokeh-!00% Composition-100% Lighting-100% I think this one’s destined for the cover of the magazine that loves your pictures. Congratulations!

  • I KNEW it! The original will fly over later. I was so very happy to see this little chap, I’d missed them so much last year. And of course we are due for rain again the next few days…
I have to confess to just a itty bitty touch of pride, it all came together for once.
    Thank you so much

That is one special picture Jesika. The sharpness of the butterfly against the softness of the buttercup, it makes you imagine sipping from the chalise of life which of course it is to this to this little butterfly.

  • Oh my. Coming from YOU, Neil, this is a tremendous comment, thank you so very much

Beautiful capture of this exquisite Common Blue – we had a couple in the garden on the privet last week but my capture is a very poor image compared with yours – Mattie xx

  • Thank you so much. I was elated to see him, none last year, 13 the year before (a record) and now hopes for 2012 – weather permitting. Oh gosh, it’s raining….

  • Good heavens, and thank you. This handsome little butterbug was going to be taken down later today, he’s had a reprieve. Thank you again
